The pressure exerted by blood on the blood vessels walls while flowing through it is called Blood pressure. Normal range of Blood Pressure for an adult range from 120/80 mm Hg.
The narrow the blood vessels become, the higher will be the pressure and the more work heart has to do to pump the blood, eventually leading to heart diseases.
Hypertension or high blood pressure develops over the years but if ignored, led to significant damage to blood vessels, brain, heart, kidneys, and eyes.
Types
There are two types of hypertension

- Grade 3 hypertension
hypertension is equal to or more than 180/110 mmHg
Risk Factors
The factors that put a person at risk of high blood pressure include
- Family history
- Aging
- Smoking and Tobacco
- Obesity
- Alcohol
- Stress
- Too much salt intake
- Diabetes mellitus
- No exercise
Stroke and High Blood Pressure
Stroke is a condition with is caused by reduced blood flow to the brain resulting in cell death. High blood pressure tends to damage the arteries, making them prone to rupture or clogging.
Any damage to the arteries can lead to stroke.
Stroke is of two types:
- Ischemic stroke due to clogging of arteries of the brain
- Hemorrhagic stroke due to rupture of arteries in the brain
